Welcome to fourth grade. I am looking forward to working with all of you to make fourth grade a year to remember! Tree Nut Allergy Alert : Due to a tree nut allergy within the classroom please contact me in advance when you are planning on sending in a birthday treat or a snack to be shared with the whole class. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and consideration in helping to keep all of our students safe. Weekly Test Schedule: Feb. 11-15 Thursday- Math Test Friday- Spelling Test Project Alert: On Tuesday January 8, students were assigned "Fancy Folder Reports" in which each student was assigned to research a different historical figure who was alive during the lifetime of our patron saint, Mother Seton. A direction sheet and a manila folder was sent home with each student for the assignment. Projects are due on Friday February 8.
Language Arts
READ, READ, READ As part of your child's homework each evening he/she should be reading for at least 15 minutes every night. All students will be given a Reading Log in which they are to record their nightly reading titles. Parents are asked to sign off on the Reading Logs each evening as well.

Math
Review those facts! As a way to keep us on our toes and help us remember our math facts we will be having daily facts tests each day to start off our math lessons. Currently we are focusing on division facts. Review them with your child at the breakfast table or on the way to school.

Religion
We love God...This will be our focus throughout Unit 4. In studying these chapters, we will be taking a closer look at the first three commandments and learning how they help us to strengthen our relationship with God. In Ch.10, we will be discussing ways that we can show our love for God. Chapter 11 helps us to focus on the second commandment and will help us discover how to respect God's name and all that is related to God. Our faith focus for chapter 12 will be the third commandment. We will discuss ways to honor and keep the Lord's Day. Finally in chapter 13, we will discuss ways that we can all grow in holiness.

Science
"Making and Using Electricity" is our new topic of study in science. While studying chapter 15, students will work to answer the following questions...What is electricity? , How are electricity and magnetism related? , What are some sources of electricity?, and How do people use energy resources?
