Welcome to Middle School

Welcome to another great school year, where students will be learning many exciting new things. Please take some time to read over the information for each grade level. Also I do post important homework assignments and documents for each class as needed. So if you need to access them and print a copy, please do.
To parents, as always, thank you for your support in your child’s education. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. You can always email me at aincaprera@mothersetonschool.org. Finally, lets work together in building a positive learning enviroment and one that exemplies the mission of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. Thank you.

God Bless.

6th Grade Social Studies
Welcome to Sixth Grade Social Studies! The students will have the opportunity to travel through time and faraway places as they learn about the history that has shaped our world.

Students are now learning about the astounding Roman Empire. They will be introduced to new content vocabulary and people, places, and events from the past. As we travel back to ancient Rome, the students will be able to identify the names of regions, cities, and physical features that were part of the roman empire. They will also read to learn about the daily life of the various classes of people and the new technological advancements achieved by the romans. Students will be assessed often thru quizzes, classwork, and homework assignments. Finally, each student will have a long-term project to complete by the end of the unit. Rome was a dynamic empire and I am excited to provide the students with great learning experiences as they study the Roman Empire!

As always, students should expect frequent homework assignments to review the concepts taught in class. Please check my web page often to check on any long-term assignments or dates for tests.

8th Grade Social Studies
Students are now studying WWI - causes, America's participation in the War, major battles, impact on cities and individuals, political decisions, and  the lasting effects of the war. During the unit, students will become more proficient in their map skills, increase their understanding of interpreting data, and will gain experience in analyzing photographs from the war.

I have often found that the subject matter is of high interest to the students, but war is a very serious issue. Please discuss with your child the unintended consequences that are often associated with war.

Peer Mediation
Peer Mediation is all about peers helping their peers solve disagreements peaceably. All Peer Mediators have been specially trained to mediate disputes. I am pleased to announce this year's peer mediators! They are: Sarah Bohn, Makayla Beehm, Alex Bowlby, Hanna Houck, Robert Walker, Carrie Reaver, Mackenzie Kirby, and Sarah Shatzer. I and Mrs. Zigler (our school guidance counselor) are the facilitators for this school program. If you have any questions concerning Peer Mediation, please contact either of us and we will be glad to talk with you about it.
