Welcome to Health Education
Welcome to Ms Pasarell's Health Education Website
NOTE:  Articles/ all goodies can only be accessed "links".   -don't know why,  but as Walter Cronkite used to say, "That's the way it is.
Meanwhile, hello, and:
"We are dazzled by a steady stream of information about our physical, mental and social health. Advances in medical science and social research are creating new frontiers at a dizzying pace, worlds apart from anything our ancestors might have imagined. We now recognize connections between human well-being and all kinds of things: music, humor, social support...the list grows. Study health in depth, you gain insight into worlds so tiny and so vast, that if you are not in awe, you're just not paying attention! If your choice is to stick to the basics in your health education, you can nevertheless benefit from knowledge and skills gained from that broad perspective. "Responsibility , cultural awareness from a health ed. perspective": Via Internet, Ms Pasarell's students go beyond nutrition basics to explore the politics and geography of world hunger(http://www.wfp.org/aboutwfp/introduction/hunger_who) as well as solutions, and facilitate donations of food to the world's starving. Examining natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina gives us the opportunity to learn about multiple health-related issues. We are not short on real-world relevance: Bio-engineering of foods, surrogate pregnancy, new vaccines, the poverty-health conection, global warming health implications, media influence, cyber safety... Being residents of New York City places particular demands on our attention. For example, asthma is a leading cause of missed school, andthe most common cause of hospitalization for our children, and New York City remains the epicenter of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the U.S.

which milk?
(39.56 KB)
Humans are the only species to drink the milk another species produces for their offspring. Which "milk" do I drink?
I have found almond milk to be the best. Almonds are rich in calcium, magnesium, potassium, manganese, copper, the antioxidants vitamin E and selenium. It has a sweet, nutty flavor and a good consistency, which makes it good for drinking as well as a good dairy substitute in cooking.
To see how it compares to other milks, read:

Perhaps the most important consideration for feeding children is this: Lifelong dietary habits are established at a young age. Children who acquire a taste for chicken nuggets, roast beef, and French fries today are the cancer patients, heart patients, and diabetes patients of tomorrow. Children who are raised on whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and legumes have a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, and many obesity-related illnesses compared to their counterparts raised on the average American diet. Because of this, they will also tend to live years longer.Visit:
