First Nine Weeks will focus on skills listed below:
Perform body percussion patterns to show 4/4 meter
Point to visual representations of melodic contour to match them to a musical example
Perform from notation rhythm patterns containing quarter, eighth, and half notes and quarter rests
Read and sing a pentatonic melody using pitch-syllable names do, re, mi, so, and la
Fourth grade will be learning to play recorders this year. I will be handing out order form information in the near future.

Welcome to Fifth Grade Music
First Nine Weeks will focus on skills listed below:
Identify rhythm combinations that use quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests
Sing patterns containing pitches of the pentatonic scale
Read and perform rhythm patterns using quarter and eighth notes and quarter rests
Read and sing patterns in C and G pentatonic using pitch syllables and pitch letter names
Permission forms for chorus are still being accepted. In addtion, you may download the form here. Students must be in fifth grade chorus in order to audition for All City Chorus. All City Chorus auditions will be held after the Winter break.
Fifth grade students will be playing recorders this year. I will post a date later to let you know when. Students who did not purchase a recorder or book last year will have a chance to do so this year. I will hand out recorder order form information in the near future.
