Signal to identify sounds lasting two beats
Sing phrases with la and so using pitch syllables.
Read and sing a melodic pattern including half notes.
Thanks to all our wonderful third grade students for an outstanding winter concert last Tuesday night. They worked very hard getting ready for the concert and it really showed!!

Welcome to Fourth Grade Music
Third Nine Weeks will focus on skills listed below:
Signal to show hearing a phrase with three equal sounds to a beat.
Move to show where repeated notes, steps, skips, and leaps occur in a melody.
Read a phrase with fa using pitch syllables and hand signs.
Aurally identify eighth notes, quarter notes, and dotted quarter notes in 6/8 meter.
Fourth grade will be learning to play recorders soon. I will be handing out order form information in the near future. Students will use the same recorders again in the fifth grade next year.

Welcome to Fifth Grade Music
Third Nine Weeks will focus on skills listed below:
Perform dotted quarter note and eighth note combinations in 6/8 meter.
Identify and sing pitches of a melody that includes all the pitches of the major scale.
Create and perform a 6/8 rhythm ostinato while singing a song.
Read a C-major scale and sing it in thirds.
Permission forms for chorus are still being accepted for our upcoming Spring Concert. Students can ask for a form during music class or you may download the form here. Students must be in fifth grade chorus in order to audition for All City Chorus.
Fifth grade students will be playing recorders this year. I will post a date later to let you know when. Students who did not purchase a recorder or book last year will have a chance to do so this year. I will hand out recorder order form information in the near future.
All-City Chorus Auditions are over and announcements will be made soon on who made All City Chorus.
