ABC III at Heritage High School
Welcome to the ABC III classroom at HHS! This is a classroom designed to provide emotional, behavior and academic support to students in the program. Some students spend a good deal of their day in this room and others only visit occasionally, however, all are welcome when they need a place to regroup or they need extra help with anything.
The ABC classroom has one block for the Wilson Reading System dedicated to intensive and individualized reading instruction. One class is Language Arts for all grades and academic levels. We also have a class dedicated to life skills. In addition, we provide tutoring and/or extra help in any and all classes. It is the goal of the ABC III class to collaborate with general education teachers and the students in the ABC program in order to facilitate success for all involved and for students to be successful in the general education curriculum.
ABC Life Skills
This class is designed for students to reflect on various social situations and discuss appropriate responses. It is also designed to prepare students to transition to life after high school and addresses transition goals on their IEPs.
Language Arts
The Language Arts block is individualized and modified to instruct students in 9th-12th grades, preparing them to pass EOCs or Gateway exams as required.
Wilson Reading Program/Reading Class
The reading class is designed to address specific learning deficits in the area of reading. It is individualized and self-paced to optimize learning for each student. Each day's lesson is based on the previous day's lesson to focus on areas of greatest need.
All areas of reading instruction are explicitly addressed on an ongoing basis. This class is taught by a Level One certified instructor in the Wilson Reading Program. |
