Welcome to Ms. Robinson's History Class
Welcome to first semester of 8th Grade United States History. We will be studying all kinds of interesting and important information about our nation. The year begins with a review of U.S. geography and then we'll begin our study of the American Revolution. Please let me know if you have comments or questions.

United States History
In 8th grade we begin our study of American History in the 1770's with the American Revolution and conclude the year with the American Civil War in the 1860's. In addtion to the American Revolution and the Civil War, we will also be studying the U.S. Constitution, Westward Expansion, the Industrial Revolution, the Mexican-American War and the U.S. political system.

One of the most significant contributions Thomas Jeffeson made to the United States was the purchase of the Lousiana Territory from Emperor Napoleon of France. Today we will examine what lead to this amazing real esate transaction. Students need their history books for today's work.

Students should have completed their rough draft by now and should be working on having it proof read. All essays are due on Thursday of this week.

Students must be working on the final draft of their 5 paragraph essay. Their final draft needs to be proof read and corrected before turning it in. The essay is due tomorrow.
Chapter 9, Sections 1 and 2 (homework)
Due Date: February 10, 2010
Students will be working on the guided reading for Sections 1 and 2 of Chapter 9. They must have their history book with them today. The assignment is due on Thursday, February 11.
