| Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year! |
| Welcome to your new biology or wildlife biology class. I hope this will be a great year and that you will learn a lot about biology. I am starting my 7th year of teaching. Prior to teaching I worked for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in a program called EcoWatch. I worked outdoors in all of Illinois' great natural ecosystems, often with highschoolers. This great experience teaching students outdoors about the natural world is what led me to teaching. Hopefully you will enjoy this class as much as I do. Check back to this site often for homework assignments, extra credit opportunities, as well as study guides and test dates. |

This course is designed to give students a basic understanding of ecology with an emphasis of local flora (plants) and fauna (animals). This course will also cover many different environmental issues. This course involves considerable time outdoors for field research and instruction. We will go outside in light rain, very hot or very cold weather. We will also go through the natural area where poison ivy can grow. Make sure you plan accordingly for the above conditions.
