Many students continue to show improvement in their math fact automaticity. Continue to practice both addition and subtraction facts to sums of 18...the hard work is paying off!
READING
This spring we will be incorporating our science and social studies topics into our shared and guided reading lessons. We continue to work on increasing fluency and reading pace through stories and poetry as well as teaching and practicing comprehension skills on both literal and analytical levels. Be sure to talk to your children about stories, books, movies, and TV shows to encourage them to think on higher levels.
SCIENCE
Insects, insects everywhere! This is our science kit topic this spring. We will be learning about the insect world and witnessing the phases of a butterfly's life. Comparing and contrasting are among the skills we will be focusing on as we expand our knowledge of insects.
SOCIAL STUDIES
This spring we will learn about various habitats with special attention to the rainforest. There's so much to learn about this fascinating habitat including geography, animal and plant life, and connections we have to the rainforest in our everyday lives.
