Mr. Murray's Class Jump Page
Welcome! Here you will find information for the four classes I teach at Moberly High School - Language Arts I Honors, Language Arts III Essentials, Analysis of Literature through Film, and Mythology.
Mythology
An elective class for strictly juniors and seniors, Mythology is an upper-level class which fulfills the LA III requirements for all students. The class will study various cultures and myths throughout history. There will be a major focus on Greek mythology, as it is the more often referenced throughout literature, but we will also be looking at other cultures such as Norse and Roman mythology as well.
Analysis of Literature Through Film
An elective class for strictly juniors and seniors, Film Lit. is an upper-level class which fulfills the LA III requirements for all students. The class will take an in-depth look at how literary texts are coveyed through film, in story and through specific film techniques. The class' curriculum does include some material which conveys questionalble material, therefore every student must have parent permission prior to beginning the class.
Language Arts III Essentials
Language Arts III Essentials is a semester only class focused on the "essential" elements of the English Department during students' Junior year - including preparation for the ACT and job shadowing. In addition, literary studies will include stories focused on maturation, or the "coming of age" as well as on social aspects and social development.
Language Arts I Honors
Language Arts I Honors is a more in-depth and faster paced class for the freshmen year of English. Using short stories and novels, cartoons, films, and music, the class will work to deepen the knowledge of the students while improving on their basic language skills and writing structure.
