ClassJump Files For Non-Profit Status
Posted by on November 20th
In order for us to continue to provide and improve our free web sites for teachers and schools, ClassJump has filed the necessary paper-work to become a 5013c non-profit corporation. Our hopes are that through this effort, we will be able to apply for grants and raise tax-deductible funds from charitable organizations and donors. It's a big step for us! Our short-term goals are to raise enough money to pay for the server, which costs us $400 monthly, and to also raise enough funds to hire a full-time tech support person who will help teachers use the system more effectively. Our long-term goals are to raise the funds needed to improve the system over-all, so that we may provide richer features for teachers, more efficient code so that the system performs faster and additional features for students and parents.

When you file for non-profit status, there are no guarantees! There's the possibility we may be turned down. Hopefully, what we offer to teachers, schools, students and parents will be seen as a valuable contribution to the educators who we love to support.

ClassJump School Web Sites Now Available
Posted by on December 19th
ClassJump is now offering schools their own web sites here at ClassJump.com! The service is not intended to replace a schools existing website - it is designed to help schools provide information to teachers, students and parents while they are visiting teacher sites here at ClassJump.

With a school site here at ClassJump, you will take immediate control over your teacher access for your school. As you may be aware, anyone can create a teacher web site here at ClassJump. We do screen new members, but occassionally a student will create a web site at a school that slips through our screening process. With a ClassJump school web site, the school administrator takes over this screening process and no one can create a teacher account without being approved first.

Great for Clubs and Sports!
Give students and teachers permission to create and edit content on your site. You can create as many web site sections as you wish. Each new section contains its own news articles, photo album, blog, calendar document downloads and links. After creating a new section for your school site, you can give any teacher at your school permission to edit specific areas of the site. You can even give a student permission to edit a specific area of your ClassJump school site!

Wrap up your entire school here with your own banner and links. When you publish your school site here at ClassJump, our banner and our links are removed from all of your teacher web sites here and are replaced with your own unique school banner and links. All of your student home pages are treated in the same way. If a teacher or a student is also a content administrator for your school site, they will see links to their own content areas of your school site after logging in and can easily update and add to their areas of the site.

Create private areas of your school site that only teachers who are logged in can access. If you create private areas of the schoool site, only teachers at your school will have access to these areas of the site. All a teacher has to do is log in. Private areas of your site can contain news, documents, a calendar and blogs that only teachers can see. As with other sections of your school site, you can assign any teacher or teacers with permission to add and update these password protected sections.

Email all your teachers. Email all your students. Use your student and teacher lists at ClassJump to send immediate email notices. Your school website at ClassJump provides an easy way for your to send out alerts and notices. Need to send an email to all your teachers here? We let you do that. Need to email all your students at one time? A ClassJump school web site gives you the opportunity to do so with ease.

ClassJump School Sites - Ready For Beta Testers
Posted by on August 27th
We've been busy creating a new school website system here at ClassJump. The system is not intended to replace websites that schools already have, it is intended to provide a one-stop location for teachers, students and parents to pick up school information while here at ClassJump.

The new school website system at ClassJump provides each school at ClassJump with a lot of options. Unlimited numbers of blogs, photo albums, news sections and calendars can be easily created for any topic you can imagine. For example, if you would like to create a series of web pages just for the Chess Club, or for the Soccer team, jump right in and create what you need at any time. If you are familiar with how easy it is to create your content for a class website here, you'll be amazed at how easy it is to create multiple areas of interest for your school site.

You can assign any teacher with a ClassJump account as an administrator for your school site. You can even assign a student as an administrator of their own special area of your school site!

We think we've created something that's amazingly easy to use and that many schools will find beneficial...but we're not really sure! That's why we're asking for a team of enthusiastic beta testers to help out, to kick the tires of the new system and provide us with feedback.

Send an email to apply as a beta tester by clicking here

Demonstration Site!

Here's an example of a test site we have created.

School Sites at ClassJump will not be a free service - Sorry!

If you are willing to become a beta tester, your school will provided with a school website at no charge for one full year.

After the beta test is complete, school websites will cost $21 per month, or $18 dollars a month for a full years subscription paid in advance.

School sites are completely optional. Teacher sites at ClassJump will ALWAYS be free. If your school does not want a school site here, that's perfectly fine. All of your services will continue as they do today.

New Features Coming to ClassJump
Posted by on June 5th
ClassJump will be adding some exciting new features during the summer months! The biggest addition is the ability for schools to start their own websites here at ClassJump, which will tie all the teachers together into one school website.

What ClassJump School Websites will offer

  • Safe and secure contact forms for all administrative school personnel.
  • Document sharing with all teachers, both public and password protected.
  • Ability for parents to sign up for their own accounts and receive email newsletters
  • School calendar items posted automatically to all teacher websites
  • Unlimited news articles
  • Unlimited number of clubs and sports teams, each with their own calendars and unique pages, including photos
  • Custom look and feel for each school, with their own banner across the top of the page which will replace the ClassJump banner on the school website and on all teacher websites within that school

This is a very big deal!
ClassJump will continue to offer free websites to teachers. The new ClassJump School Websites will cost a small annual fee, which has not been determined yet. ClassJump has decided to charge for this new optional service so we can raise funds to help pay for our server costs (which we currently pay for out of our own pockets) and to create more features available to teachers.

Do you have ideas?
If you have suggestions or comments about this new School Website initiative by ClassJump, please leave a comment on this article, by clicking "add comment" below, or by sending an email to ClassJump right here. Do you have suggestions for more features than are listed here for ClassJump School Websites? Add a comment! Do you think your school would like to have such a website here and would be willing to pay a small annual fee for it? Add a comment! All of the code that supports the ClassJump project is written right here in-house. So if you have great ideas, we can make them a reality!
