With all of our curriculum round down we've begun an indepth review of all the information we've learned this year.
Reading will focus on refining reading strategies like pointing to each word as we read, using picture clues to help decipher unfamiliar words, stretching out words we don't recognize to figure them out, skipping unfamiliar words to read on for more clues, then returning to re-read the sentence and figure it out. We will also be practicing comprehension, predicting and inferring, comparing, making connections, asking questions, and synthesizing. Finally we will round out the school year with an author study on Eric Carle!
Writers Workshop will focus on reviewing the various writing genre's we've explored this year. Personal narrative, How-to (or functional writing), Report Writing, Response to Literature, and Persuasive writing. We will be doing an informal author study of Dr. Seuss to wrap up the school year!
Math Investigations has been in review for several weeks. For the final three weeks of school we will learn more about money and telling time! Help your kids out by talking with them about the clock or counting the money in your pocket or wallet together!
We finished our Social Studies curriculum a couple of months ago! Health is just about finished and we'll be rounding out the year with Science!
Overall, we've seen wonderful growth in each student this year! They have almost all met or exceeded the standards and expectations for Kindergarten and we're so proud of all their hard work in school and your hard work with them at home! Thank you for a brilliant and successful Kindergarten year!
