Welcome to 1st Grade!
MATH INVESTIGATIONS

In Math Investigations we are working on combining numbers by doing Crayon Puzzles. Students are given a problem such as "I have a total of 10 crayons. I have some blue and some red crayons. I have more blue crayons. How many of each could I have?" This exploration challenges the student to count a total of 10 and also making sure that there are more of a certain color.

We are already in Theme 8! Theme 8 is all about Our Earth. The stories are non-fiction.
We read every day. We have Guided Reading and Literacy Centers daily. On Friday we take our assessment tests to see what we have learned. You will get a folder with reading scores approximately every 3rd week. Please sign acknowledging that you have seen the scores and return the folder. We are working on Response to Literature in Writer's Workshop. Our book of the month for March/April is Diary Of A Worm and we will have many activities planned around WORMS!!
