Calculus Class
Calculus is a college course (4 credits at HVCC) designed to develop the students' understanding of the concepts of calculus and to provide experience with its methods and applications. The course emphasizes a multi-representational approach to calculus with concepts, results, and problems being expressed geometrically, numerically, analytically, and verbally.
Students will be able to work with a wide variety of functions represented graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally and they will be able to find the limit of a function or state that it does not exist using algebra, and graphs. Students will be able to compute the derivative of different functions. Students will be able to evaluate definite and indefinite integrals. Additional topics include systems of equations, sequences and series, vectors and polar coordinates.
