| 新年快樂! (Xīn Nián Kuŕi Lč) |
Happy Chinese New Year! This year, according to Chinese Lunar calendar, the Chinese New Year fell on February 14, Valentine’s Day. This year is also a TIGER year. In order to celebrate the Chinese New Year, Lake Middle School has invited a professional lion dance group in Twin Cities, Ha Family, to perform the traditional Chinese Lion Dance, as well as Ribbon Dance and Kong Fu, the Chinese martial art, on February 12. The celebration was open to the whole school, and all our students and staff members were enjoying the performance.
Moreover, students in Chinese classes in our building also received red envelopes from the teachers. As a tradition in China and Taiwan, kids receive red envelopes from adults with lucky money inside, which is believed to bring good luck for the coming New Year.
The Chinese New Year holidays usually last for two weeks, ended on Lantern Festival. This year the Lantern Festival falls on February 28, and we will have some activities to celebrate the holiday with students by then.
