COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop the knowledge and skills neccsesary for active participation in a democratic society. students will become informed citizens in regard to their local, state, and federal government.
The content should include, but notbe limited to, the following: United States constitutional government- development, structures, and functions of local, state, and national governments within constitutional and economic frameworks - contemporary socail issues - role of the individual in a democratic system- foundations of the american political, social, and economic systems and institutions- history and contemporary problems of Florida - rights, responsibilities, and obligations of citizens.
This course must include career exploration using CHOICES or a comparable cost- effective program and educational planning using the online student advising systems known as Florida Academic Counseling and tracking for students at the internet website FCATS. org; and shall result in completion of a a personalized academic and career plan. This course meets the middle school requiremant for Geography.

MATERIALS: These materials must be brought to school daily.

Two Pencils with erasers
Sharpener with shavings collector

2 Composition notebooks

1 Ring of Copy paper
Crayons and Color Pencils

ASSESSMENTS: Evaluations will include projects, written assignments, tests, journals, projects, technology based activities, and class participation. Students will be notified in advance of upcoming tests, projects and activites.

CLASS GRADING POLICY: Academic, effort and conduct grades will be issued every 9 weeks. progress reports will be sent home 4 1/2 weeks into each 9 week term.

A= 90-100
B= 80-90
C= 70-79
D= 60-69
F= 0-59
