Welcome
Hi, my name is Jessica Kuhn. I am hoping to become a 3rd grade teacher. This website is going to have a lot of resources for students.
Just a little bit about myself. I grew up in Plymouth, Indiana and attended Valparaiso University. I majored in accounting, and upon graduation, secured a job in a TPA firm. I soon realized that life in a cubicle was not for me, so I'm working on obtaining my masters in elementary education. In what little spare time I have, I enjoy reading, going to the movies with my friends, and spending time with my family and friends. To learn more about me, feel free to view my introduction powerpoint posted on this site. During my studies, I have been privy to many types of technology. I am utterly and completely familiar and comfortable with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, as well as Publisher. I have experience creating videos in Windows Movie Maker and actually enjoy doing so. Along with that, I am familiar with Webquests and Podcasts and have learned and utilized HTML and code.
All About Me
Feel free to view my introductory PowerPoint to learn more about me. To the upper left is a link to my photo albums, containing my top 4 travel destinations. Also for perusal is a welcome letter to parents and guardians that explains a little of what I will be doing to make my classroom a unique learning experience.
Geography
We're going to be studing the states and state capitals. We will also spend many weeks studying Indiana. To review, we will be playing a fun game I created using PowerPoint.
Language Arts
We're going to be working a lot with spelling this year. Check out the spelling games at PBS Kids. There are a lot of other fun options, not all of which are spelling, at primary games. And the stacks have writing games and book trivia.
We are going to be taking advantage of Spelling Time, which is a virtual spelling tutor that presents quizzes, spelling bees, spelling tests, and fun spelling games all customized to each child's abilities. Book reports are going to be done by filling out the Book Report Form. The Joe Rock and Friends series are fun interactive books that contain 3D graphics with fun stories and sing-along songs, as well as read-to-me functions. With three levels of reading, this series provides an amazing reading experience for emerging readers.
Math
Measurement is going to be one of our big focuses this year, so be sure to check out these fun measurement games. Cool math for kids also has a wide variety of fun games.
