Hello and welcome to my new website. My name is Ms. Dugan and I teach 7th and 8th grade ESL English, levels 2 and 3. I teach students from all over the world. In our class we focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English. Throughout the school year we focus on different units of study within English Literature. Students will be reading and writing within each specific unit of study. For example, if we are reading persuasive texts, students will also practice writing persuasive letters and/or essays.

Here are some Course Programs and Technology used in the classroom:

• Achieve3000, also referred to as Teenbiz3000 is a program designed to enhance students’ reading skills. This computer-based program engages students by using a Teenbiz3000 e-mail account, responding to e-mails, reading news articles from around the world, answering activity questions, and responding to thought questions. www.teenbiz3000.com
• Grade Book Wizard is a program that teachers use to store grades, which students and parents have access to. This allows students to monitor their graded assignments and missing assignments. www.gradebookwizard.com
• Learning Upgrade is a computer-based program with fifty different Language Arts based levels. Each level is scored on their performance, Gold, Silver, or a Bronze medal. This program is designed to challenge students to perform at their best. www.learningupgrade.com
• Glogster is a program that will be incorporated to present project-based assignments. Glogster is designed to express creative activities. www.glogster.com
• Moodle is a program to interact with the students. Students will us this program as a learning tool. Moodle will engage students by uploading assignments, as well as using it as a resource. www.moodle.sandi.net
