Welcome!
Hey, all! We're off to a brand new school year, (2011-2012) and I hope you're as excited as I am! We'll learn a lot in class and hopefully, you'll have fun while you're at it! For most of you, the class you are taking will be one of your favorite high school courses. Why? Because you will have the chance to be creative, to be original, and to bond with other students, almost as if you were family! Just be sure to keep an open mind, display some maturity, and bring a positive attitude with you each day!
ACT Prep
ACT Prep is divided into two nine-week classes. One nine-week period will focus on English skills, and the other half will tackle math skills. Especially important when attempting to gain entrance to a college or when vying for scholarships, this class will help raise your ACT score beyond what you might otherwise achieve. You will have an opportunity to review skills you've learned throughout your life, but may have forgotten, and to practice taking tests similar to the ACT test.
Creative Writing I
Be prepared for some fun times through exploration and insight! In this class, you will have the opportunity to eliminate the dread of writing, to "play" with words, to develop your own writing style, and to experience different aspects of creative writing. By course completion, you will have developed quite an interesting portfolio! Imagine seeing a blank page, and knowing what to do with it! This course will help you accomplish just that!
Creative Writing II
Love to write? If your answer is "Yes," then Creative Writing II is a must! You will further design the portfolio you began in Creative Writing I, and you will build momentum in your writing. Group exploration will add to the fun as you continue to develop your very own writing style!
Theatre Arts I
Theatre Arts I is a basic study in the field of acting, and fulfills the fine arts requirement. This combination text/performance based course will allow students to explore theatre history and acting techniques, as well as backstage crew responsibilities, and will also offer students the opportunity to develop their own acting style through exercises, rehearsals, and an after-school performance for an audience. Life-skills will be incorporated, as well, which will help students develop or refine communication skills, writing technique, confidence, a sense of responsibility, and teamwork ability.

Other theatre-related projects, such as duet acting, storytelling, puppetry, and script writing may be introduced, as well.
Theatre Arts III
