St. Angela Merici School
|
This will be an interesting fourth year for me with the faculty at St. Angela Merici School. I will be a full time teacher this year. I will be teaching 5 new subjects: pre-algebra, algebra, and religion, handwriting, and art. I am very excited to be teaching new subjects and I am so thankful to be added as a full time teacher. The only change we have in the computer lab will be behind the scenes. We have installed a new server that will make everything run faster and will be more reliable. I feel that communication among the teacher, students, and parents/guardians is very important. I will try to do my part as the teacher to keep this website as up to date as possible, so that we all understand the expectations for the students in my classroom. Classwork and Homework for my classes will be posted on this website every week. At the beginning of every week students will be able to see all the classwork and homework that will be expected to be done during the upcoming week. If if they are absent, all work will be posted online. There will be no reason for a students not to know what they need to turn or or what they missed when they were absent. Please take some time and click here to visit the news section of my website. I have listed my classroom expectations. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at any time by using the email link located at the top left of this page.

8th grade is a very special time for Religion class. We will spend the year getting ready for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The following are the expections of our religion program at Saint Angela Merici School: 1. The religious curriculum is developed to insure a grasp of the authentic Catholic Doctrine with Scripture at its core. 2. The religious curriculum fosters a sense of community by creating a moral standard by which the students strive to develop an awareness of social morality 3. The religious curriculum provides guidance and catechetical instruction leading to the development of liturgical and personal prayer on a daily basis. 4. The religious curriculum provides age-appropriate programs whose thrust is to indicate a true sense of service imitating Christ. We use the The Loyola Press text selection that is a spiral curriculum which builds upon previous years. Scripture is at the center among four themes: Creed, the Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer. During religion class, 8th grade will plan and execute the weekly Liturgy on a rotating basis with the rest of the school. 8th grade students will go to Confession two times a year during religion class. Students will be assesed using various methods: classwork, quizzes, tests, unit tests, projects, journals, and collaborate work. Students will have homework and outside projects for religion class. Each entry is worth 10 test grade points. They must also appropriately comment on the blog entries of their classmates. Students must completed 2 entries during the first 9 weeks, 3 entries for the second 9 weeks, 3 entries for the third 9 weeks, and 2 entries for the fourth 9 weeks. A genre can not be used more than once. If it is, the student WILL NOT receive credit for that blog entry. Even if it is complete and the correct format. 7th Grade - Art
The 2011-2012 is my first year teaching middle school art. I love art and I love to be creative, but coming up with the projects will be challanging for me. Mrs. Sweeney has graciously left me many project ideas and has been on SPEED DIAL when I have questions. I will also be asking students about their art interests so they will have some input into their projects. Art is always more fun when you are able to be involved in the whole process.
I hope to take pictures of some of our work and have a small art gallary slideshow on this page. I will do my best to try to make that happen. |
