Hello, my name is Kelly Schorzman. I teach 6-8th grade ESL in room 514. Students in my class can expect to find a welcoming environment that provides opportunities for creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork through our reading and writing assignments. Each assignment given in class and for homework will help each student to reach the Early Intermediate level of English proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. I look forward to the work ahead this year and hope you do to.

Throughout the year we will be focusing on four major writing compositions: narrative, persuasive, expository, response to literature. We will also have several smaller writing components including: reflective journals, summaries and reflections, and personal narratives.

Students will be receiving daily systematic ELD lessons, which will help accelerate them to the Early Intermediate level of English proficiency.

This class is designed as an intervention for math. Students will be receiving instruction based on the sixth grade content standards. Students will also receive intervention support to help fill in gaps from previous grades.
