Welcome new Bearcats!  The goal of English I is to prepare you for more rigorous studies in the coming years.  The focus is on academic language and writing, analyzing a variety of texts and social issues.  Weekly, you will have reading logs and writing in your freshmen journals.

Sophomore year is a very intense year.  Not only is this the first year that English grades are looked at by colleges, but students are required to pass the California High School Exam.  Other work will include a variety of writings and analyzing several pieces of classic literature.
