This course is designed to give the student the opportunity to explore and apply chemical concepts in order to develop an understanding of the chemistry behind important technological advances. Of equal importance is the fact that chemistry offers an opportunity to experience the logical beauty and predictability of science as a human endeavor. The student will be involved in laboratory experiences and other problem solving exercises that enable them to develop their understandings and apply their knowledge.

This is an introductory high school science course designed for High School freshmen and sophomores. We will integrate the basic principles of the two important physical sciences: Chemistry and Physics. Units of Study are designed such that learning is comprehensive, creating an interdisciplinary approach. Students will be encouraged and expected to develop scientific processes and the critical thinking skills that will enable them to successfully address the New Jersey Scientific Standards and High School Proficiency Assessment.
