Welcome to Mrs. Bettcher's on-line classroom
I would like to be the first to welcome you to the curious world of science. We are going to have so much fun this year! This year will be filled with exciting opportunities and limitless possibilities! I am so thrilled to get to know each and everyone of you.
This website is to aid students when they missed pertinent class information. It can also be used to confirm information discussed in class. Each day I will post the daily agenda and homework. A notebook is a critical part of this class. Notebooks will contain all assignments, labs and notes. This must be brought to class everyday. Here is a bit of information about me. I was born and raised in this community. I even roller skated in this building as a child/teenager way back when this building used to be a skating rink. I graduated from Metropolitan State College with a B.A. in Biology and an emphasis in Zoology and Parasitology. I have taught middle school science for 10 years prior to coming to Pinnacle High School. My wonderful husband and I have the 2 most fabulous boys any parent could ask for and 3 very spoiled dogs. Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family, play volleyball, workout and train for and participate in triathlons and marathons. I take my teaching job very seriously and am here to make sure each student has every opportunity to succeed in his/her unique way. With that in mind, please don't hesitate to let me know if there is anyway I may assist you. I look forward to having a great year together! Course Desription: The purpose of this freshman course is to spark student interest in the sciences and to provide students with the skills necessary to be successful. Students will get a wide content base by focusing on a different topic each quarter: Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. This class incorporates innovative core curricula that has been assembled from four proven inquiry based programs. Through data collection and analysis activities, students will gain content knowledge, improve critical thinking skills, and make connections between real world issues and their daily lives. The activities will strengthen key skills necessary for the work place such as; following procedures, working well with others and demonstrating responsibility.
