"The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its culture, its history, then have somebody write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history. Before long the nation will begin to forget what it is and what it was. The world around it will forget even faster." -Milan Kundera, The Book of Laughter and Forgetting "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it" - George Santayana "People are trapped in history, and history is trapped in them". -James Baldwin 13 COLONIES to French and Indian War Slides CLICKon study guidesfor all thestudy guide notes for each unit I use throughout the year. Regents US History and Government 11
This page is dedicated to helping students find success in Mr. Murphy's class as well as preparing them for their Regents exam in June. United States History and Government focuses on American History from the discovery of the Americas to present day. It also includes an overview of American Government. The Constitution and the workings of government are key to this section. The course places emphasis on reading, group activities and research work. United States History and Government requires the student to take a New York State Regents exam at the end of the course. They must pass the exam and the course in order to qualify for a Regents diploma.

HVCC Honors Interpretations of American History I and II
This course like its Regents counterpart focuses on the New York State standards of 11th grade Social Studies. The students are expected to pass the Regents exam at the end of the year. This two-part course provides higher level students the opportunity to obtain college credit at Hudson Valley Community College. It is an extremely challenging course requiring extensive reading. The students must take part in class discussions and group activities. They must take a final exam along with a Regents exam. HVCC SYLLABUS QUESTIONS ABOUT THE COLLEGE IN THE HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM? US HISTORY English Language Learners
This is my attempt to ease the transition for my ELL students who are learning US History. These students like all my students come from unique and diverse backgrounds and are just as talented and skilled as my native English speakers. I hope this will help the students gain a better understanding of American History. Finally, I am writing these study guides and summaries using Google translate. I do not claim that the information is perfectly translated. I am sure there will be some dialogue issues. If I make any glaring mistakes, please e-mail me so that I may correct them. If the sentences do not make any sense, again I apologize.
