updated September 20, 2011
Area IV Leadership Conference By: Cassidy White FFA Reporter On September 15, 2011 the Moberly FFA Chapter took 29 members to Ashland, Mo for the Area IV Leadership Conference. The conference started off in the auditorium room of the Ashland high school. The Area IV officers spoke and started the area meeting. The President, Jaelyn Bergmann introduced the 1st vice president, Alyssa Cassidy, who introduced all of the other area officers. Four of the members competed in the official dress contest; Jade Moffat, Marie McSparen, Matthew Joseph, and Dakota Niemier were the members who competed. Moberly took first place. During the conference the Greenhands or first year Ag. Students separated from the upperclassmen. The groups went through a series of activities throughout the night. Upperclassmen and Greenhands both went to six different activities; they all had a lot of educational information in each classroom. After all of the schools both Greenhand and upperclassmen got back into the auditorium area where we listened to the area officers speak, one of our state officers speak and then we listened to Landon Schaffert who is the National FFA Secretary. After Landon spoke there was a delegates meeting, the delegates from Moberly were Philip Moss, Becca Burkhart, and Matthew Owings. The meeting determined where the Area IV Barn warming would be held at this year, and where the Area IV Banquet would be at this year. After the delegates meeting the area officers gave their closing ceremonies and that was it for the conference.
