Period 1- English 11
Engilsh 11 is designed to expose upper classman to classic American Literature. Students will work individually, and in small groups to read, delve into, discuss, and analyze both contemporary and classic pieces of American literature. Students will also work to increase their writing skills- focusing on research papers and literary ananlyses. Students will also be requried to read outside of class.
Period 2- English 9
The 9th Grade course is designed to teach students how to become conscientious readers, who not only read the text for basic comprehension, but truly begin to look into the underlying themes and motivations of the characters within the literature. Students will begin to analyze the key elements within the dramatic structure of a story- such as the rising and falling actions, climax, exposition, and denouement. Students also work towards expanding their written expression by focusing on short written assignements, as well as a writing their own short story and research paper.
* This 9th Grade English Course completes ALL of their work in Google Documents. *
Period 3- Math 8
This 8th Grade Math course continues to teach students foundational math concepts to prepare them for high school math classes- such as Algebra and Geometry. In class, students will survey a variety of math concepts including graphing, number theory, fractions, decimals, percentanges, and basic geometry concepts such as area, perimeter, and circumference.
Period 4- English 10
Period 6- English 8
The 8th Grade English course is designed to help students become skilled readers in a varitety of literary genres, and to become proficient writers who can compose for a multitude of audiences and purposes. Students in this course will explore fiction and non fiction, poetry, drama, and delve into a literary classic.
