Language Arts:
-Recognizing the long vowel sounds when the pattern is cvce (“silent e”)
-We play a game in which each child gets to be letter. The students are arranged in a cvce pattern. Each letter says its sound in order. But when the vowel goes to say its sound the e reaches over and pinches the vowel and the vowel says its own name. That sneaky silent e!!
-Some words have two meanings (date, hand...)
-Review of all Star Words
-Infer means to think about what a character in a story is feeling or thinking even if the text does not say it.
-When we are talking about more than one noun we add “s” to the end of the word

-Composing teen numbers by putting together a group of ten and some ones

Important Details:
*Homework/Show and Tell: Due on regularly assigned Show and Tell day.
-Cut apart the picture and word cards in the BEE Binder.
-Set out the cards, paper and crayons.
-Students use the cards to form a complete sentence starting with a word that has a capital letter.
-Next s/he writes the sentence on the paper and adds punctuation.
-Then the student will read the sentence and draw a picture of it.
-Students may form and illustrate silly or realistic sentences when they put the word cards in order.
-For more detailed sentences you may add words cards such as fast, slow, brown, yellow...
(This is a terrific activity for the summer!)

-If your child has allergies and needs a special kind of bug spray, please send it with a label for use.
-I recommend hats as well for protection from bugs and the sun.
-Please send a change of shoes (not clothes) in case the farm/woods are muddy.
