Hello everyone! My name is Miss Millian, and I am an undergraduate from Valparaiso University where I studied Elementary Education and Spanish.

We are living in a world full of new technologies which enable us to connect on all levels - class wide, school wide, district wide, worldwide - of education.  The core values of connected learning are equity, social connection, and full participation.  Equity enables all students to have an equal educational opportunity.  Social connection brings a sense of belonging, relationships, and culture into education.  Total or full participation brings everyone in the community into the educational experience.  By becoming a connected learner as an educator, I am better in-tune with my students individually as well as a class.  I connect with my students and understand each student deserves an equal educational opportunity.  I help my students set personal goals and reach those goals.  I learn from where my students are coming, and I incorporate culture and the community into my lessons.  I use technology as a tool.  By becoming a connected learner as an educator, I never stop learning.

As a class we will extend our knowledge of phonemic awareness, expand our vocabulary, read fluently both orally and silently, visit various genres of literature, hold class discussions on our readings, write compositions, and make short presentations.

Together we will cover elements of number sense, computation, algebra and functions, geometry, measurement, and problem solving.  Students can begin the year by practicing their addition with "tickets please!" at Education World - Math Machine.
