Friday May 25 8th grade book club - Phantom of the Tollbooth
 

Our exploration of Earth Science will begin with a study of soil - where it comes from, what's in it, and why it's important. We will then learn about fossils and what they tell us about Earth's Geologic Time Scale. A journey to the center of the Earth will let us find out what's happening down there that causes earthquakes and volcanoes. Finding our unique place in the solar system and other astonomy topics finish out the school year.

In the 7th grade we study Life Science, beginning with the 6 kingdoms and animal taxonomy. We will also explore a few animal behaviors (including our own) to learn about how we learn. Cells and heredity will find us learning about the parts of a cell, especially DNA and its role in inherited traits. We will finish the school year with Environmental Science topics.

Physical Science is so much fun! Students will first delve into the mysteries of chemistry, followed by characteristics of waves, and finished off with Newton's laws of motion, forces (such as gravity and friction), and energy.

This 8th grade after school club meets on the second Thursday of each month to build, design, invent, and explore. Meeting are held in the science lab from 3:00 - 4:30.

The Science Club is designed to spark students' interest in science topics that we don't have time to explore during the school day, with a special focus on how we can be good stewards of God's creation. This is an after school club for 7th grade students that meets on the third Thursday of each month in the science lab from 3:00 - 4:30.
