Family Consumer Sciences Classes
Wow we are off to a bang up start to the new year. I am so glad to have each and everyone of you in my classes this year as I begin my year of teaching. I plan to have a lot of information on this site for you and hope that it will help in our learning this year. if you want to suggest something to put on classjump please let me know. CHILD DEVELOPMENT
This technical laboratory course addresses knowledge and skills related to child growth and development from prenatal through school-age children, equipping students with child development skills. Students use these skills to promote the well-being and healthy development of children and investigate careers related to the care and education of children. Students are encouraged to participate in extended learning experiences such as career and technical student organizations and other leadership or extracurricular organizations. Ours is FCCLA.
. You will need the paperwork for the Real Care Babies signed by a parent before you will be allowed to take the baby for the weekend assignment. This paperwork will be passed out at a later date. FASHION DESIGN
Careers in fashion span all aspects of the textile and apparel industries. Within this context, in addition to developing technical knowledge and skills needed for success in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communications careeer cluster, students will be expected to develop an understanding of fashion and the textile and apparel industries.
Students are encouraged to participate in extended learning experiences such as career and technical student organizations and other leadership or extracurricular organizations. Ours is FCCLA. You will also be required to furnish your own sewing supplies and fabric for projects during the year. There will be a list furnished to you. LIFETIME NUTRITION AND WELLNESS
This laboratory course allows students to use principles of lifetime wellness and nutrition to help them make informed choices that promote wellness as well as pursue careers related to hospitality and tourism, education and training, human services, and health sciences.
All students will need to have a binder with dividers for this class that will stay in the classroom. Students need to purchase a recipe box and index cards which will not cost more than $2.00. There will be a $25.00 fee for food to use for cooking during labs for the class. You will make a recipe box AND a how to book for a major grade at the end of the semester. This money is due as soon as possible; I will be glad to take partial payments by money order or cash. I will write a reciept for all money taken in and it will be turned in daily to the office for deposit. I will shop at Minyards. Students are encouraged to participate in extended learning experiences such as career and technical student organizations and other leadership or extracurricular organizations. Ours is FCCLA, please join us.
FCCLA meets every Wednesday at 4:20 until about 4:50. The criteria for joining FCCLA are to either be in a Family Consumer Science Class currently or have had one during high school and pay $16.00 dues for National and State dues and come to meetings. We are a community service organization. We are currently collecting Box Tops for Education, Tyson labels Project A , and Campbell's Labels for Education for community service hours. Any student in school may bring labels to me for credit.
