Month of March
Happy Spring!!!

I know, I know...I'm a bit early. It's not quite spring yet, but I'm eagerly anticipating the warm weather! And I tell you this because just as excited as I am...the children are 10 times more. So we need you to help keep them grounded and focused. Will you join with me on this effort?

This month we are starting Fractions, Unit 8 (this unit includes a little probability picking up right where we leftgrasp the concept of decimals and are enjoying working with them.

We started out reinforcing that it's "impossible" to do math without an understanding of numbers or a good number sense. And our numeration system is easy: With just ten symbols-the digits 0 through 9-it's possible to express any value, no matter how large or small.

Children who develop a good understanding of our numeration system will refine their sense of the size of numbers represented by numerals in this unit. This will support the development of their estimation and computation skills as well. All that to say, this unit is quite important and we will need your support.

And as always, thank you for your continued support!

Line segments, rays and lines..oh my! Our Geometry Unit is here!
updated January 25, 2008
