By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea!!! For the final two weeks of school, that is where Preschool Room 8 is going to be. I can’t believe that June is here, although with the warm weather we’ve had lately, it does make it feel more like summer is closing in on us.
Our final thematic lesson of the year will take us on a trip down to the seashore. We’ll be adding to an ocean scene in the hallway as we create several examples of creatures that live in the ocean. This week we will be learning about many things that live underwater fish, whales, starfish, and octopi. I have also found a website that allows us to watch a huge fish habitat at an aquarium online. The children love to do this and we hope that the creatures we are looking at are out and about.
Letters of the Week:
(Notice parents, that it is LETTERS this week.) We’ll be working very hard to finish the alphabet before school ends so that means we must “triple up” for the next two weeks. This week we will be looking at the letter “U”, “V” and “W”.
Because of the time we have left, target vocabulary for each letter will be fewer words than in a normal week.

We will still be having a “Show and Tell” Spectacular on each remaining Friday of the school year. Since we are working with multiple letters please don’t feel as if you must send items for all three letters. We just want to continue the fun that the children have with this lesson.
REMINDERS:
Tuesday will be “Water Day” for both classes. In the past, this has been one of the happiest days in Preschool. We take the children and various water toys and a very small kiddie pool out on the playground and let the water splash!!! We’ll end each session of the day with some kind of cold Popsicle treat. YUMMY!!!!
If you would like you child to be able to participate and get wet please:
1) In a plastic bag marked with his/her name send in a swimming suit, towel, hat and sun screen.
2) Carey and I will change the children in and out of their swim suits during the day. Please do not send your child in to school wearing his/her suit.
Next week on Wednesday June 11th (this is the last full session day of the school year) we will be having a pizza party for snack time. Hurray!!!! - We have found a local Chennelo’s that will deliver to us in the morning AND give us a good deal on pizzas too! I am asking that each child bring in $2.00 to help defray the cost of this party. We will have pizza, drinks and a special cupcake for dessert!!!
