We hoped that you enjoyed your Memorial Day holiday. Now that the children have all reported back to base we are all going back into space for the next week. The children have learned quite a bit about space travel and other things that we might see in space. This week we will continue our adventures as we make a fun counting book (work at home on counting and identification of numbers 1 – 10) On Thursday we’ll get our hands gooey when we make a big batch of “Space Mud” This is a great activity The mud is fun to mix and play with. On Friday we’ll return safely to Room 8: mission accomplished! Snack will include special cosmic cookies that we will decorate and then EAT!!! Our galaxy in the hallway is a sight to be seen. The children love to walk past it and point out all the activities that we have worked so hard on.
Letter of the Week: “T” Target Vocabulary words: Tooth, toothbrush, turtle, telephone and train.
Show and Tell on Friday. Let’s see if we can have 100% participation in both classes for the final three Show and Tell days.
Letters U, V, and W will be our letters next week (the first week of June) and then Letters X, Y and Z will finish the year out for us. Look for the children to bring home great alphabet books that we’ve put together. These can be used during the summer to work on letter identification and keep vocabulary sharp.
Some special dates to mark on your calendar:
Water Day: Tuesday June 3rd.
Please send a swim suit (in a plastic bag marked with your child‘s name) Mrs. Carey and I will change the children in and out of their suits and then send them home in the school clothes they arrived in. We also request that you send in a towel and sun screen if you’d like us to apply it. This is a fun day we spend outside with all kinds of water activities. The children (and the teachers) always have a great time.
Wednesday June 11th
Pizza party. We’ll spend our last “FULL” day at school celebrating the fun that we have had this year. We’ll have pizza delivered for snack. I usually order cheese pizza as it is enjoyed by most of the children. I am asking that each child bring in $2.00 to help cover the cost of the pizza, drinks and dessert.
