| I am so excited about this school year! This is my third year teaching and my third year in fifth grade. The third time is always a charm! It will be fun and rewarding as you learn how to comprehend, or understand what you read, write well, and prepare for middle school. You will have a lot of responsibility as the oldest students in the school and I am confident you are all looking forward to being role models for the younger students at Landstown. No spelling contract was given this week, Dec. 3-7. A spelling test is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 7th. The week of Dec. 10-14 we will work on possessive nouns, commas, and figurative language- simile, metaphor, exaggeration and idioms. The week of Dec. 17-21 we will edit our persuasive letters with correct proofreading marks. We will also have Unit 2 testing this week.

Currently we are in Unit 2 of the Fantastic Voyage series. This week, Dec. 3-7 we read the story, "Missing Links." We worked on author's purpose and organizational techniques. We also took a Language Arts quarter test. Next week, Dec. 10-14 we will begin persuasive letter writing. The week of Dec. 17-21 we will continue our persuasive letters and conclude with some fun holiday activities.
