Welcome to Miss Taylor's Class!
Welcome parents and students! I am so excited to be working with you all this year. I hope you're as excited as I am.
This website is for you all to use to understand more about what will be happening in our classroom this year. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions about what is going on! Let's have an amazing school year and learn to the best of our ability! I want to attach a "Meet Me Glog!" that shows a little about who I am. http://emtayy.edu.glogster.com/meet-me-/ I am from Mishawaka, Indiana. I have one younger half-sister and two older full-brothers. My family is my everything. I graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a minor in Social Work. Feel free to let me know if you'd like to know more about me!
Math
While learning the basic concepts counting, adding, subtracting, grouping, alongside other mathematical concepts, your students will play fun games that allow them to better their skills and develop critical thinking to solve problems.
Teacher Resources
Working with young children is a complicated task in its own. Teaching them is a completely different task. I believe that good, committed teachers are patient and flexible in their work. You cannot rush teaching or learning. The best way to learn is to engage the students in the lesson.
Here are some websites that I feel are useful to teachers: http://dc.doe.in.gov/Standards/AcademicStandards/StandardSearch.aspx http://www.educationworld.com/ http://www.pbs.org/teachers/ http://www.funbrain.com/ http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/home.jsp Along with those websites, here are some techtorials to incorporate technology in the classroom: Using Paint Tools in Pre-K-1 Classroom http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/techtorial/techtorial_painttools.pdf Teaching in a Tech-ing Classroom http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/techtorial/techtorial007.pdf To Learn about Blogs and how I incorporate them into my classroom, visit my glog: http://emtayy.edu.glogster.com/glog-on-blogs/ Links for Assistive Technology in my classroom: http://www.magictouch.com/assistivetech.html http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2006/11/07/ie7-and-various-screen-readers-and-screen-enlargers.aspx
Writing
In class, we will be doing a lot of writing! Your students will write about a book he or she has read, respond to a book, or even write to you as parents. They can even write their own stories! Learning to write and writing a lot will help the students as they continue to go through school, so I want to stress this topic as much as possible in my classroom.
