The course culminates in the development of a graduation plan based on career objectives and educational training requirements for career concentration objective.
Technology Education
In Technology Education, students gain knowledge and skills in the application, design, production, and assessment of products, services, and systems. Knowledge and skills in the proper application of technology, the design of technology, the efficient production of technology, and the assessment of the effects of technology prepare students for success in the modern world.
Gateway to Technology
Gateway To Technology (GTT) is a PLTW® program (visit www.pltw.org) designed as a pre-engineering course which addresses the interest and energy of middle school students while incorporating national standards in mathematics, science, and technology. This activity-oriented program shows students how technology is used in engineering to solve everyday problems. This STEM-based course (science, technology, engineering & mathematics) will consist of two instructional units that motivate students to become creative innovators. During the GTT experience, students will gain the skills they need to develop, produce, and use products and services.
The GTT curriculum provides activities-based, project-based, and problem-based learning, a hands-on approach that is exciting and challenging for the student. The curriculum relates technology to students’ daily lives. It promotes communication and collaboration by emphasizing a teamwork approach in the instructional units. This approach utilizes the strengths of each team member to accomplish the goals of the project while offering students learning challenges at all ability levels. Students acquire knowledge and skills in engineering problem solving and explore requirements for careers in engineering |
