Art 1 is an introduction to the basic components of art and the methods of creating artworks. We will explore the elements of art and the principals of design, which are subsequently the tools and concepts used to both create art and analyze the validity and direction of various works of art, including student work. We will understand how we use both the right and left parts of our brain in tandem to produce comprehensive works of art, as well as exploring multiple careers in art and the paths that lead to those careers. Art 1 students will experiment with a variety of materials and mediums including graphite, pastel, charcoal, acrylic, watercolor and ceramic. We will explore various drawing and painting techniques, as well as sculpture using a variety of materials. The most important thing we will explore is how to touch upon the creative aspect of who we are as individuals, and have a lot of fun as we walk along that path together!
