This course offers a comprehensive look at the world today focusing on significant events in the news. We will examine current events on an international, national, and local level. The intent of the course is to provide you with the basic background and foundational information to help you understand the world that we live in today. It will examine various social, political, economic, religious, and cultural events in different countries and regions in order to better comprehend multiple perspectives on the world today.

This course offers a comprehensive study of civilizations from the dawn of man through the 20th Century. In the first semester, emphasis will be placed on the early civilizations including- Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Greece and Rome. In addition, we will also explore the rise of five ancient religions. During the second semester, the focus will turn to the Age of Exploration and the conquering of new territories up to the modern era. Major events will include World War I, World War II, the Cold War and the Vietnam War.
