Instructor Approval REQUIRED! Independent Study by Arrangement
Advanced Marketing II continues where students finish in Advanced Marketing with emphasis on market research, planning and problem-solving. Much of the work completed in Advanced Marketing II will further develop student understanding in distribution, financing, marketing-information management, and product service management. All marketing students are in charge of operating the MATC Cornerstone School Store on a rotation basis throughout the year. It is strongly encouraged that students in Advanced Marketing II participate in the work cooperative education program, although it is just an option; however, it does provide an opportunity to apply marketing skills in the workplace.

Missouri's marketing and cooperative education students attain the skills necessary to succeed in today's global industry through our unique co-curricular philosophy that closely integrates classroom instruction, DECA and work-based experiences. The marketing curriculum provides the framework for a future entrepreneur, retailer, event planner, sales professional as well as a banker, physician, or lawyer. The skills gained in this curriculum will fit any career. Work based learning strategies appropriate and approved for this course include job shadowing, paid/unpaid internships, school-based enterprises, field trips, and/or cooperative education. Students will receive hands-on work experience by operating the school store and a variety of equipment. Work based learning opportunities such as school based enterprises, job shadowing and internships provide venues for students to make connections between classroom concepts and the real world. Those who elect to participate in a marketing internship must be employed in a marketing-related position so they may apply the principles learned through the program. This provides excellent insight into the educational requirements, cultural aspects, and skill level of specific marketing, management and entrepreneurship career paths. Student enrolled in Marketing I may opt to enroll for additional credit:
• 1 credit earned for classroom instruction.
• 2 credits earned for classroom instruction AND working 10-19 hours per week.
• 3 credits earned for classroom instruction AND working 20 or more hours per week.
