| Welcome! |
Please note that I have changed the date of the next test from 11/6 to 11/9.
The first quarter is complete. We have begun our studies of ancient Egypt. Our first Egyptian test, covering ch. 7, 8, and 9, will be held on 11/9/09. I will be collecting folders that day. Your history folder should have a fresh table of contents beginning with the materials we have covered so far with Egypt. The first paper behind your table of contents should be the Rosetta Stone bellwork. Make sure you empty out all of the classwork prior to ch. 7.
Mummification Process Activity
1. You will work in a group to accomplish the mummification process beginning on 11/10.
2. Daily 2 people from each group will salt the chicken and change the bag. During Thanksgiving break, someone from each group will have to take the chicken home with them the change the salt.
3. Bringing in the required supplies on the appropriate day will count for your grade. Each group member must contribute to the group. There will be another peer evaluation which will affect each student’s grade.
4. Towards the end of the chicken mummification process, each group will decorate a sarcophagus.
5. Your group will name your chicken Pharaoh, and explain why you chose that name.
6. Your group will develop a fictitious story about the life of your chicken pharaoh, which time period he/she lived, what his or her accomplishments were, how he or she died, and who was their successor.
7. As a group, you will compose your story consisting of 1-2 pages typed, double spaced, and 12or 14 point font.
8. Prior to winter break, we will have a burial ceremony, in which you will learnb about the process and experience it firsthand.
