Academic Skills
This class is designed to help students be successful in school by staying on the right track with schoolwork and also to help students learn specific study skills. Some of the learning strategies taught include studying for tests, taking notes, managing open-ended tasks and the organizational skills required to write a paper and complete a long-term project. Students will also learn more about growth and fixed mindsets. Students will be partnering with elementary and middle school students to “learn while teaching”. There are three main components to this class: daily planners/assignment tracking online, assisted study/work time and skill building.
Accounting
Accounting introduces students to the double-entry system of accounting for sole proprietorship and corporate forms of business enterprises by using real-world applications and connections. Business Math and Personal Finance
This class provides comprehensive coverage of personal and business-related mathematics. In addition to reviewing the basic operations of arithmetic, students will be prepared to understand and manage their personal finances, as well as grasp the fundamentals of business finances. Students will learn how to be smart shoppers, informed taxpayers, and valued employees. Excel spreadsheets will be used to reinforce concepts learned. Real world connections will made as well as algebra connections, group and class activities, communication skills, career spotlights and guest speakers.
