American Government
American Government 2012-2013 This required course focuses on the origin and structure of American political system of Government. Students will examine the government of the United States and will study the Constitution from its origin to present day. Fall Semester 2012 Unit 1- The Foundations Unit 2- Political Parties, Voting & Elections Unit 3- The Legislative Branch Spring Semester 2013 Unit 4- The Executive Branch Unit 5- State and Local Government Unit 6- The Judicial Branch
Global Perspectives
Fall Semester 2012 Global Perspectives examines the geographical, historical, cultural, political, economic and current issues in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. Each unit will define and study the types of governments and economic systems found in the region today. Emphasis is placed on the wealth or poverty of the nations in the region and the factors that cause that wealth or poverty (religious, economic, political, available resources, population dynamics). Tensions and conflict in the region are examined in relationship to the previously mentioned factors.
