Welcome
Welcome to wildlife biology. This is my 12 year teaching at Belleville East High School. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Prior to my teaching career, I spent several years in the retail grocery business. My wife, stepdaughter, and I live on 6 wooded acres near Highland, Il. I am a vegan (don't eat or use animal products) and my wife is a vegetarian. We have 2 dogs, 9 cats, and several reptiles.

Honors Wildlife Biology
The goal of this course is to give the student a basic understanding of the science of ecology with an emphasis on the local flora (plants) and fauna (animals). Considerable time will be spent discussing the evolutionary adaptations and evolutionary relationships of various plant and animal groups. This course involves considerable time outside, sometimes during periods of light rain or cold weather. You may also experience muddy conditions as we walk the trail through the natural area. Make sure you plan accordingly for the above circumstances. During the study of each plant or animal group we will engage in numerous lab activities. Many of these labs will involve the students designing and initiating the labs. Typed lab write-ups will be required for each lab.
