Welcome to the WHS Art Department
The WHS Art Department provides a variety of opportunities for students to: develop new technical skills, learn about Art History, explore a variety of media, develop their own personal artistic voice , learn about art related careers, and have fun doing something they enjoy. There are also Art Related Extra Curricular Activities where students can further explore their interest in art and also meet other WHS students who share their passion for Art. Consider joining the WHS National Art Honor Society.Talk to your Art Teacher for details.

ALL SCHOOL ART SHOW
On. May 15 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. the Woodbury High School Cafeteria will be transformed into an enormous art gallery. Awards will be given for outstanding work in Ceramics, Crafts, Drawing, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, & Sculpture.
National Art Honor Society will be recognized at 7:30 p.m. in the theatre. A photo of the award winners will also be taken at that time. Join us for this free event that features the amazing talents of WHS Artists.
AP Studio Art
All of the WHS AP Art Students received college credit for the 2012 AP portfolios that they submitted in May to the College Board. We are so proud of them. One recieved a score of 3 - the rest of the students got a score of 4 or 5. Way to go artists!!!!! This fall we will have 34 students in AP Studio Art.
Art Dept. Awards
The WHS Art Faculty is very proud of the talent, creativity, passion & hard work of these artists. We are also pleased that our instruction & encouragement has helped them receive these honors.
WHS Art students had more artwork selected for exhibition in the 2011-12 Best 100 Art Show than any other St. Paul area public or private school. Most recently 49 awards were given to WHS artists in the 2012 Minnesota Scholastic Arts Contest. 24 students received these awards. All but 6 are in the WHS A.P. Art Program.

National Art Honor Society
The WHS Chapter of the National Art Honor Society will meet on the first and third Friday of each month in room 241 from 7:45-8:20 a.m.
The purpose of this organization is to inspire and recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding skills in art. You must have completed at least 1 High School Art Class & are currently in your second art course to join. You need to also earn at least an A- average in those courses to be considered for membership. The membership fee is $20. Talk to Mrs. Seashore if you have questions or can't pay this fee. You will be required to participate in 1 Art Activity each month and attend 2 morning meetings per month to remain a member.
