Consumer Math
Consumer Math is a senior level English class with the main purpose of preparing students for applying mathematics in a real world setting. Students will taught the variety of ways to balance and budget, estimate housing costs, calculate calories and figure out taxes and discounts.
There will be a final project/presentation at the end of the year for students to demonstrate knowledge. Second semester will also focus on the understanding and following of stocks.
Foundations of the Future II
Sophomore Foundations class is focused on assisting students deal with homework, classwork, organizational skills, understanding their legal rights, self-advocacy, and planning for the future after high school.
Students will be graded primarily on preparation, organization, and participation.
Literacy Support
Literacy support is a class designed to assist students with a general understanding of the process of writing as well as understanding a given test. Students will be required to write extensively and focus on the appropriate grammatical uses as well as the many different parts of a sentence and paragraph.
Literary prose will be analyzed so that students can understand and use parts of speech as well as figures of speech like metaphors, similes, and personification.
Planet Earth English
Planet Earth English is an English elective for 11th and 12th grade students. This semester we will be focusing on two novels and several short excerpts from all over the globe.
Students will also be required to start and write on their own blogs with links to our classroom blog. Questions will be posted every Friday and responses will be checked first thing Monday morning.
