Foot in the Door 4 at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts! Open until June... totally free... 5000 artists. It's overwhelming a little, but there's some good stuff there.
CERAMICS 1A
An exploration of handbuilding and wheel-throwing techniques using clay as the primary medium. Coiling, slab-building, sculpting, pinching, and throwing on the potters' wheel will all be taught.
COMMERCIAL ART/GRAPHIC DESIGN
Discover what goes into creating posters, CD covers, books and illustrations, magazine cover, t-shirt designs, logos, and more.
Students will work from concept to design to the finished product. This course will provide an opportunity for students to create many projects that could be used to build a portfolio of finished work for the commercial art field.

This course will help students become comfortable with a variety of drawing materials and techniques by exploring drawing styles and materials used by several different artists. Expect to see skills and finished drawings improve.

FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY
Fine Art Digital Photography

This course is offered to students who are interested in learning about the basics of quality artwork using digital photography as a medium, as well as creating images that have visual impact. Students will learn the elements and principles of design with an emphasis on composition. Throughout the course, we will also cover the basics of digital photography including vocabulary and camera/computer function. Students will be introduced to the history of photography, descriptive analysis of student/professional work, student presentations, class critiques, and the work of influential photographers. Students will learn to develop and expand their aesthetic perception. They will use Photoshop to learn basic digital imaging while also learning to enhance some of their photographic work. The students will create photographic images that will be suitable for working toward an AP studio art 2-D portfolio.

World Crafts students will focus on crafts from a diverse range of cultures, discovering both the purposes behind these projects and the skills required to create them. Lessons will include two and three-dimensional media through which students will extend knowledge of art history, criticism, aesthetics and process. Student work will be unique to each student, and exhibit a continual focus on the Elements and Principles of Design.
