Ms. Jaeger's Sixth Grade Class
Horace Mann Middle School
Greetings from Ms. Jaeger
Thanks for taking the time to visit our class web site! This year students will be able to access all class information and assignments on my moodle site (links below). This is my fifth year teaching sixth grade at Mann Middle School, and I am really looking forward to the upcoming school year. My core subjects are Language Arts and Science with numerous technology projects built into our curriculum. Our school has continued to grow and excel over the past few years.   We are going to have an outstanding year together.  If you need to contact me, please do so at 619-582-8990 xt. 4510 or by email at rjaeger@sandi.net.
Language Arts Class
This will be an exciting year in our language arts course. In addition to our journey in becoming proficient readers and writers, we will be incorporating technology into our curriculum.  Throughout the year we will be writing and publishing essays, narratives, poetry, magazine articles, and brochures.  In addition, ith our i21 classrooms we have the ability to create many different types of media projects such as:  screencasts, movies, public service announcements, and documentaries.

The main site for all class information will be on our Language Arts Moodle. It will include assignments, review materials, and additional materials to support student success.

In addition, students get get a jump on your Teenbiz weekly assignment by logging in at home and reading three nonfiction articles at home. Looking for a great book, check out our book club blog and hear what our class has to say about some phenominal books.

Science Class
At the beginning of the year, we will be investigating the big idea that "The Earth's Surface is Constantly Changing!" Throughout this investigation, we will discover evidence to answer our essential question, "How is the Earth's surface constantly changing?" In addition, we will also be studying the atmosphere and weather,  living things and their relationships with each other,  and will participate in a school wide science fair. The final two weeks of the year will be spent on our family life unit. We learn about puberty and the changes happening in our bodies.

Remember to use our Science Moodle if you need to review any lesson or check your homework assignment. (P.S. You will need your user ID and password to access the website)
