ERHS BAND REHEARSAL EXPECTATIONS

·      Arrive to class on time. (In the rehearsal room when the bell rings)

·      Set up equipment (binders & instruments) and be ready to play two minutes after the bell rings.

·      Have your equipment in class in good playing condition.

o   Woodwind-always have at least two reeds broken in and ready to play

o   Brass-Keep your valves and slides lubricated and be ready with mutes or other accessories when appropriate.

o   Percussion-set up equipment for rehearsal repertoire at the beginning of class. Have appropriate sticks and  

o   Mallets in your possession.

o   All instruments in good working order.

·      Participate in Daily Warm up exercises

·      Participate in Daily Performance Repertoire Rehearsal by following along with group activities and playing when directed to do so.

·      Put forth your best effort with posture, tone production, blending, balance, expressiveness, etc.

·      Prepare for rehearsal by establishing a regular at home practice schedule.

·      Pay attention to instruction directed at your section and at others.

·      Avoid excessive talking during instruction.

·      Remain in your assigned area and be ready to play throughout the rehearsal.

·      Be cooperative with the director and other ensemble members in all rehearsal situations.

·      Remain seated and attentive through the end of rehearsal.

·      Pack up and store all of your equipment including instruments, binders, mutes, and miscellaneous papers in the appropriate areas.

 
 
Concert Band
The student audiences are grades 09-10 and select students that need some remediation on performance skills. Students are expected work towards proficiency at the appropriate level according to the SWC #833 Band Curriculum. Proficiency is identified through testing of individual technical, music reading skills. Furthermore, performance participation recourses aments of performance are expected as well. Students are expected perform at various events such as school curricular and non-curricular concerts and events. Please see the calendar for required events for respective ensembles and the class syllabi for perforrmance expectations and how students are assessed.

Guitar I
Wind Ensemble
The ensemble literature expects student to perform at a high proficiency. Private lessons are highly expected to achieve this level, but only encouraged. Students are auditioned for this ensemble. Grades 10 - 12 are the primary target. Students are expected work towards proficiency at the appropriate level according to the SWC #833 Band Curriculum. Proficiency is identified through testing of individual technical skills and terminology. Furthermore, performance participation and recordings are expected as well. Students are expected perform at various events such as school curricular and non-curricular concerts and events. Please see the calendar for events and syllabus required events for the respective ensembles.
