Soldier's Heart - Foster's Classes Only! (homework)
Due Date: January 10, 2011 |

Students will pick only 1 of the following for their Soldier's Heart project:
1. Character sketch/outline of Charley his physical, mental and personality will be described. Students will highlight these aspects and how Charley changes from the beginning, middle and end of the book.
2. Describe the medical technology or hospital conditions during the Civil War.
3. Describe, in detail, the role of women during the Civil War.
4. Explain how war can affect a person, his/her family life and how internal struggles may be created due to war.
5. Create a time line of Charley's travels. Be specific. Note: You may want to use a poterboard to illustrate the events that Charley experienced.
6. Describe what being a soldier may have been like for any young man in the Civil War. Include things like mental preparation, separation from family, etc.
7. Compare/Contrast the Civil War soldier to the American soldier (in Iraq).
8. EVERYONE must write a letter to Charley as a relative. This letter MUST be ledigble and be at least ONE full page in length. Please include an envelope, you can make up the address and please be sincere.
9. Extra-Credit: A 5 stanza poem (with 4 lines/stanza) about the Civil War)
Rubric:
This project will be graded on its originality, neatness and attention to detail. Anything written must be grammatically correct and this must be handed in on January 19. I will NOT accept ANY late assignments. |

TCMS is offering a 2 hour writing workshop on Saturday, November 6th. This workshop is open to all studetns. Students have the option of attending the 9-11am workshop or the 11-1pm workshop. We will be covering all the tools needed to write strong, clear, and organized essays.
