Thanks for visiting my site. You will find basic information relative to my class here. I plan to include uploads for monthly assignments, maps and sometimes history notes. Please note that any information on this site may be amended, particularly dated material. Also, students are not permitted to send me completed assignments via this website, that are due in class. You must hand in your assignments in class when they are due, unless I advise you otherwise. Assignments that are noted on this site will also be found on the assignment board in my classroom. 7th Grade Texas History

7th Grade Texas History Message Board

Social Studies in the 7th grade will examine the history of Texas. We will study the cultures of Native Americans living in Texas prior to European exploration. Mission building, colonization, revolution, republic and statehood follow in sequence. Government studies of the Constitution and it's effects on the Texas Constitution will be emphaiszed, along with the rights and responsibilities of Texas citizens. We must not forget the importance of geography in Texas history. We will work with primary and secondary sources in our studies, and students will prepare written answers to thought based questions.

My lesson plans will be placed on this website for your review each week. Please be advised, they are not set in stone, and they may be updated as the need arises. Also, other important information such as clarification about assignments, class notes and review sheets for tests are documents that may be downloaded.

PAP Essay Writing Tips

Beginning in Unit 1, PAP students will be required to answer DBQ's (Data Based Questions) and prepare an answer to an essay question at the end of each document. We will hand out the DBQ in class several days prior to your essay test. You should use the DBQ contents to structure your essay. DBQ's can be a "major" six weeks test grade.
